Tips For Staying Young At Heart
It seems like as we get older, most of us just want to be young again. We’ll do anything to reverse the aging process. Here are the great lengths people will go through to keep from having time turn against them:
- Work Out Harder
People have an obsession with looking good. We go to the gym, lift heavy weights, take spin classes, do yoga in a room with the temperature turned up to 105 degrees, run marathons, jump rope, swim, play basketball, etc. The list goes on and on. Some people work or play sports for pure enjoyment or for work-related purposes. Others do it so they can feel good about themselves. If you’re like me, you do it to feel young again, no matter how many injuries you accumulate. Inexplicably, I still think I can move around at the age of 39 like I did when I was 19. Exercising can bring our minds back to when we were younger so we don’t feel like we’re aging quickly.
2. Keep Up With Your Young Kids
Young kids have so much energy, they don’t know how to let it out other than to run around as fast as they can and cause complete chaos at home. My six year old now runs faster than I do. Even if I beat him in a race, I’m so out of breath, it’s like I walked the Sahara. Meanwhile, he’s telling me to race again. Parents think they can beat their kids at anything. At a certain age, our kids eventually surpass us. The first time I beat my dad at basketball, I was 12 years old and I felt like I conquered the world. Keep up with your kids and you’ll stay young at heart.
3. Party Like You’re Back In College
Some parents will get baby sitters just to go back to the club and dance like they’re 21 again. Why? Well, it makes them feel young again. For a few hours, all of the hardship you experience as an adult can just wash away while you’re surrounded by people half your age doing moves you’re now completely unfamiliar with.
Other adults will drink like they’re at a frat party. It can bring back good memories of being young again, until you can’t remember anything that happened. Drinking was the thing to do in college and some people don’t want to stop being cool. Girls night and guys night out without the kids can be a great way to travel back in time.
4. Get Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery is no longer for emergencies. As we get older, we feel a strong need to look our best and age backward. We watch Jennifer Lopez and Halle Berry seemingly look better as they get older and wonder how we can keep up. Some people get face lifts to get rid of the wrinkles. Others will get breast or butt implants, anything to age in the opposite direction. Self-esteem is a huge reason plastic surgery is so popular. We want to feel our best and in order for that to happen, we need to look our best. We go to great lengths to make that occur.
5. Eat Healthy
Many people eat well for dietary reasons and to avoid gaining weight. Eating well can slow down the aging process, depending on what you eat.

6. Sleep Better
Sleeping a solid 7–9 hours per night does wonders for your health and can take years off of your life. It can also help prevent cancer, reduce stress, decrease inflammation in your body, improve your memory, make you more alert, lose weight, and help the body repair itself. Make sure your sleep is uninterrupted as well and it pays to not snooze multipe times. Now that I’m older, I’m getting less sleep. It’s not on purpose, but I have young kids so it goes with the territory.
